Extreme Metal

The darkest, fastest, heaviest metal: abysses, ice fields and slow sinking.

Death metal is deep and ferocious, black metal icy and desolate, doom slow and mournful, grindcore short and chaotic. All use extreme vocals and suit horror, boss fights and dark fantasy.

A vast cavern of black basalt pillars, sulphur glow from floor fissures, an explorer with a lantern at the edge.
A stormy Nordic coast with jagged cliffs and a lone lighthouse, an original band silhouetted on a ledge, sharp aurora bands over a dark sea.
A frozen pine forest on a moonless winter night, a lone stone tower on a ridge, stark white snow against black trees.
A colossal ruined cathedral sinking into a purple marsh at dusk, slow fog bands, a tiny cloaked figure walking toward it.
